Finding innovative ways to conserve water
Water usage reduced by half
By paying close attention to water conservation, we have lowered our water usage so much that we now use 50% less water to manufacture a yard of carpet than we did in 1995. When you consider the millions of yards of carpet that we make each year, you can imagine how much impact this has on the environment as we conserve and preserve our water supplies. By using better dyes and implementing newer, more sustainable production methods, we're able to save enormous quantities of water every year.
Reusing water both at the plant and outdoors
At Mohawk, we know water is a very precious resource. That's why, for decades, we've been safeguarding our water to make sure we only use what we need and that we reuse as much water as possible. For example, we have our own water treatment systems that clean our water so we can reuse it in operations. These systems significantly reduce the amount of water we use at our facilities. We also utilize managed wetlands to filter our wastewater naturally and create pristine water without the use of harmful chemicals. These wetlands allow us to reuse our effluent to create vibrant natural habitats for plants and animals.
