Finding new uses for old products

At Mohawk, we have always made it a priority to reduce our use of natural resources and decrease the burden on landfills by incorporating as much recycled content into our products as possible. Many of our carpets, backings, and other products now contain significant amounts of both pre-consumer and post-consumer materials. Recycling post-consumer materials offers a unique environmental benefit by taking products that have already completed their life cycles as consumer items and using them to make brand new products. Rather than being discarded as solid waste, these products are given another full, useful life. We collect a variety of post-consumer materials from both commercial and residential recycling programs (including carpet, glass, plastics, and metals) and use them to make high quality carpet products.
