Putting waste to use

Mohawk Industries extrudes a variety of carpet face fibers, including Nylon, Polypropylene, Polyester, and PET. During the extrusion process, as well as the tufting process, yarn waste is generated. Rather than just disposing of this waste, however, we put it to good use. We send yarn waste to our pad manufacturing facility and recycle it for use in other products such as synthetic carpet padding. With this unique recycling initiative, we are able to decrease our impact on the environment and turn what would be considered waste into a valuable raw material for our products. It's what happens when you work hard towards increasing sustainability in every area of the production process.
