Yellow Grease
An unexpected source for sustainability
More energy, less impact
Manufacturing the amount of carpet we produce every year requires a lot of energy. Traditionally, carpet manufacturers have relied on depletable resources, such as natural gas or fuel oil to power their plants. However, in an effort to reduce our dependency on natural resources, we began exploring alternative energy sources to provide the needed power for our manufacturing operations. We found that by using a renewable energy source called Yellow Grease for our boiler, we could greatly reduce our use of natural gas and cut our emissions of Global warming chemicals by nearly 25%. What is Yellow Grease? It's the animal fat or cooking oil collected from deep fryers and grease traps in restaurants and other food processing facilities. By turning this waste into fuel, we're contributing to even greater overall environmental sustainability.
