SIMS
The green revolution in product design
A more sustainable process by design
We put so much effort into designing our products for sustainability, that we decided to take a hard look at the design process itself, seeing how we could make it more sustainable, too. We found that, if we could do our design work using digital carpet simulations instead of actual tufted samples, we could save time and transform the normal design process into a much more earth-friendly practice. That's because every carpet sample replaced by a digital simulation saves a whole quart of oil. Since the design process requires much sampling, the number of quarts saved can add up fast. Not surprisingly, we also found that by digitizing our design process, we could also save time and money in product design and could even boost creativity. Here's how.
Taking the lid off creativity
The system we now use for simulated samples is called SIMS. This unique technology allows designers to view simulated designs, colors, and even textures with remarkable accuracy. Because they no longer have to make real tufted samples for every design or style they want to see, our designers can explore more options, more quickly, at less cost. This significantly enhances the design process, resulting in more new ideas and styles for our customers and more environmental savings for our planet.
