If you've been around commercial carpeting long enough, you know that a unitary backing system (i.e., one with no secondary backing) is sometimes required for areas with lots of wheeled traffic to prevent delamination. Unitaries have always been made with high quality latex and no secondaries so that there would not be a quality issue. We were the first company to recognize high-traffic quality problems decades ago, and as a result, we engineered one of the first high performance Unitary systems called WeldLok. It was one of the first unitary backing with superior tuft bind. And the result? Not only does WeldLok ensure better performance, but it leads to greater sustainability as well. Here's why....

Longer life for greater sustainability.

A stronger tuft bind means a longer floor life, and longer life means less carpet in landfills. According to many sustainability experts, simply extending the life of a product does as much for the environment as some of the more well-know initiatives associated with sustainability (such as using recycled materials in manufacturing). WeldLok keeps more carpet out of landfills simply by extending the life of the carpet further than ordinary unitary backing systems. It's also PVC free, chlorine free, and CRI Green Label Plus certified.
