Woven

Still outperforming other carpet by up to 300%

The longest running performance

Woven carpet still outperforms all other types of carpet hands down. Nothing compares with its outstanding appearance retention, longevity, and built-in cushion properties. Woven carpets are more durable than their tufted counterparts, because each yarn is individually interlaced with each backing yarn in one continuous step. This robust durability translates into 21-year lifespan for a typical woven carpet. That's up to three times longer than tufted carpet. So, although woven carpets are initially more expensive than tufted, the lifecycle costs are dramatically less. By spreading the initial costs over 21 years instead of seven, woven carpet offers considerable cost savings.

Weaving an even smaller environmental footprint

The beauty of this exceptional longevity is that it minimizes the environmental footprint of woven carpet. Why? Because longer carpet life means less carpet ends up in landfills. Since it stays on the floor longer, it doesn't have to be replaced as often as other types of carpet, so fewer new resources are used. Just as important, Mohawk woven carpets are PVC free and chlorine free. Recyclable and CRI Green Label Plus Certified, our woven carpets not only meet, but exceed industry standards in environmental performance.

Far less resources, much longer life

The fibers in woven carpet have a useful life that is up to 300% longer than the fibers in other types of construction. Over the lifecycle of woven carpet, this results in a reduction of more than 50% in our use of natural resources compared to that of tufted carpet. Less energy is needed to make replacement carpet, and less energy is needed to haul and exchange it. Even though it is the oldest method of producing textiles, weaving is still the best way to make carpet. We have over 150 years of experience weaving carpet at Mohawk, and we know that with its excellent environmental qualities, woven carpet is still the carpet of the future.
