You can see our passion for the environment in every fiber of Mohawk carpet. Although our carpets feature a wide range of both man-made and natural yarns, all of them have been chosen for their durability, sustainability, and small environmental footprint. Whether it's fiber made from corn kernels or recycled plastic bottles, we're constantly implementing new breakthroughs that benefit the environment.

Just as importantly, we're not only concerned with the sustainability of the fiber itself, but also with the environmental impact of its manufacturing processes, its recyclability, and its performance features. We even address the issue of how our fibers will be cleaned. Why? Because if all it takes to clean a carpet is a little warm water, then fewer harsh chemicals are introduced into the environment. When we start thinking about the environment, we see everything in green. We strive to do everything associated with our products in the most eco-friendly way we can.

• Up to 100% recycled content – We use recycled content in our fibers wherever possible, intercepting materials that would normally be on their way to a landfill and transforming them into beautiful Mohawk carpet fibers.
  • Pre-consumer content - Colorstrand Solution Dyed Nylon fiber contains 25% pre-consumer recycled content.
  • Post-consumer content - EverStrand fiber boasts 100% post-consumer recycled content in the form of recycled PET beverage bottles.
  • Recycling through our ReCover program - we take back old carpet and recycle it into new materials.
• Renewable content from field to floor – A variety of our products contain bio-based or renewable content, helping us reduce our dependence on petroleum-based products and shrink our environmental footprint. A perfect example is SmartStrand made with DuPont Serona renewably sourced polymer, a fiber that is 37% renewably sourced and preserves natural resources.
• Innovative manufacturing to reduce energy usage – Take our Colorstrand Solution Dyed Nylon fiber. It's made in a very efficient process that consumes less than 25% of the energy used in conventional dyeing. No water, steam, or fossil fuels are consumed when we make Colorstrand Solution Dyed Nylon.
• Superior performance for exceptionally long life – Many of our fibers have a tighter molecular structure which helps them resist matting and crushing. Exceptional fade resistance and stain resistance are also built into many of these fibers. And why? Because carpets with high performance qualities need replacing less often, less carpet ends up in landfills.
