Stain Resistance
One of the most significant factors in sustainability is a simple matter of longevity: lengthen the useful life of the product, and when you are ready to recycle it, we will help you keep it out of the landfill. Of course, extending the life of any product is easier said than done. For carpet, the greatest enemies are stains. By spoiling the new look of a carpet, they can send it to an early grave. We've fought off this threat by developing fibers that are inherently stain resistant. Our EverSet, Duracolor, ColorShield and SmartStrand fibers all use innovative technology to build stain resistance into the nature of the fiber itself. Instead of applying topical stain-resistance to ordinary fiber, we've engineered these fibers to resist stains naturally. Topical treatments pale in comparison. And that's why our new fibers are so much better for the environment.
- No need for harsh cleaning chemicals – Almost all common stains will wash out of our stain-resistant fibers using nothing more than water. Tougher stains (and there are very few of these) can be easily removed with mild detergent and water. This eliminates the need for harsh cleaning chemicals that can be harmful to the environment.
- Better indoor air quality – With no need to store and use harsh chemicals for carpet cleaning, the indoor environment benefits from improved air quality.
- Less carpet needs replacing – Stain resistant carpet keeps its new look longer. And new looking carpet doesn't go into landfills.
- No hassle maintenance – Because all it takes is water to clean our inherently stain-resistant fibers, maintenance staff aren't exposed to chemical cleaning agents.
- LEED for existing buildings and green cleaning – Many of our stain resistance technologies are patented. These technologies eliminate the need for harsh VOC emitting detergents. This reduces exposure of building occupants to potentially hazardous chemicals that adversely impact indoor air quality.
