Disposing of old carpet is more than just a hassle. Whether the carpeting is sent to a landfill or simply abandoned and forgotten in some warehouse or industrial area, old floor coverings can have serious environmental consequences. If not disposed of properly, the used carpeting will pose environmental hazards. If it ends up in a landfill, the carpet not only adds bulk to the landfill, but can also lead to other negative environmental consequences. So, at Mohawk, we developed a program that gives new life to old carpet and keeps it out of landfills.

The program is called ReCover, and it's a unique recycling solution that helps carpet customers dispose of their old carpet without having to send it to the landfill. All they have to do is give us a call, and we work out the logistics. Then, we transport it to one of the many locations in our growing network of recyclers where it can be recycled into value added new products and in some cases become new carpet from Mohawk.

Because we want to make it as easy as possible for consumers to recycle their old carpeting, we will pick up any and every kind of carpet – even carpet that's not made by us. Our ReCover program accepts all kinds of carpet, keeps it out of landfills, transports the carpet, and ultimately gives it new life in the form of Mohawk products and other new products.
