Working hard to minimize our environmental footprint

At Mohawk, we are working hard to minimize the harmful effects that manufacturing carpet can have on the environment. By striving for continuous improvement in sustainability - from process to product - we are continually shrinking our environmental footprint. All of our manufacturing facilities regularly reevaluate their operations to make sure they're meeting the highest quality standards while at the same dramatically reducing and preventing waste. Because of their success with these initiatives, many of our facilities have already been awarded certification by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Measuring up to the highest environmental standards

The ISO is the world's leading developer of international standards. Several of our facilities have achieved or are working toward ISO 14001:2004 certification - demonstrating our own adherence to the strictest standards for product quality. Our plants in Glasgow, Virginia and Landrum, South Carolina have both received ISO 14001 certification, and a total of nine of our plants will be certified by 2008. This third party certification entails constant audits, training, and documentation - all helping to ensure that our plant activities are continually monitored for measurable improvements in sustainable manufacturing. The ISO 14001:2004 is an impressive tribute to our commitment in environmental management.
