U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC)
A non-profit organization that promotes environmentally-friendly buildings
Transforming buildings and communities
Made up of leaders from all sectors of the building industry, the USGBC advocates environmentally-responsible buildings that are healthy, profitable places to live and work. The USGBC's stated core purpose is "to transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy, and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life." Mohawk was one of the early members of the USGBC, and we're fully dedicated to its goals and programs.
Mohawk products contribute LEED points
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is a nationally accepted, voluntary standard that defines green buildings. Buildings gain different levels of LEED certification based on the number of points that they have been awarded. Mohawk products fall under three key categories in the rating system: (1) indoor environmental quality, (2) materials and resources and (3) regional materials. Many of our products have a high LEED value, their low environmental impact enhancing the overall environmental-friendliness of a building so it can earn LEED points. We're proud to support the USGBC and contribute to our customers' LEED points as we work together towards a healthier, greener world.
